  32. The self-extracting archive file named WINAV.EXE is for users of Microsoft
  33. Anti-Virus for Windows Version 1.0, or later.  It contains updated
  34. files that include the latest virus signatures available.
  35.  
  36. This update works with Microsoft Anti-Virus Windows Version 1.0 or later.

  38. To update your version of Microsoft Anti-Virus for Windows, follow these
  39. steps:
  40.  
  41. 1. If you have the Microsoft Anti-Virus Signature Disk, copy the
  42.    self-extracting archive file WINAV.EXE to a temporary directory on
  43.    your hard drive.
  44.  
  45. 2. Run WINAV.EXE to extract the update signature file, MWAVSCAN.DLL, an
  46.    updated virus list file, MSAVIRUS.LST, the update signature file for
  47.    VSAFE, VIRSIGS.CPS, and the Read Me file, README.TXT, which contains
  48.    this file and an updated list of virus signatures included in the
  49.    MWAVSCAN.DLL file.

  51. 3. Copy the files MWAVSCAN.DLL, MSAVIRUS.LST and VIRSIGS.CPS to the
  52.    directory on your hard drive containing the Microsoft Anti-Virus
  53.    for Windows files.

  55. 4. Reboot your computer to invoke the new signatures when you run VSAFE.

  57. 5. Run the Microsoft Anti-Virus Windows program.
